The reason your soldering does not turn out well it's because you cannot touch the fitting with your naked hand. You have to clean the copper before you solder it and do not touch it with your only hand. Your soldering will look a lot better

I made mine to take .22 blanks and power loads for the power hammers used in construction.. I made mine similarly but with smaller parts which are cheaper, easier to get and much lighter, allowing you to carry more alarms and more shells as well as being able to use a wider variety of metals.

i think welding a hinge to the big nut would be better than using a cut off wheel to let shell drop in, also using a brazing rod will be stonger than the solder.

I've learnt some important lessons with these. Firstly they are indeed dangerous. Secondly they aren't needed. They may alert that an intruder is around but they are so loud they alert the world to your position. Better and much safer using rattling tin cans.
